ATSUMI ELECTRIC CO.,LTD.

FAQ

General
  • Are Atsumi products CE marked?

Yes, all of our intruder alarm products are CE marked.

  • Are Atsumi products UL listed?

Most of products are UL listed.
Please contact us for further information..

  • Is Atsumi an ISO 9000 and ISO14000 series certified company?

Yes, we have been ISO9001 certified since 1998, and ISO14001 since 2004.

  • Does Atsumi have any other products besides detectors?

For the Japanese market, we supply a variety of security products, such as remote-surveillance systems, access controls, and control panels. However, we currently focus on Outdoor detectors, Photoelectric Beam detectors and PIR.

Photoelectric Beam Detectors (Photoelectric Detector)
  • Old model NRQM can be replaced by New model on the stacking application ?

Yes, Old model NRQM series and New model NRAQM series can be mixed on the same application (site).
However please don’t use New model transmitter (receiver) and Old model receiver (transmitter) together.

  • What is "EDC" implemented in NR-QS and NR-QM series?

EDC means Environmental Discrimination Circuitry. It distinguishes the differences between sudden beam breakage (intrusion) and gradual beam loss (heavy fog). When heavy fog occurs and the beam is not reaching the receiver, EDC is activated to notify the user that heavy fog is affecting beam operation.

  • If photoelectric detectors are used in heavy rain, do they work all right?

The effect of heavy rain is minimum, and most likely the beam operation remains stable. When heavy fog occurs together with rain, we recommend models with EDC (NR-QS/NR-QM).

  • What does non-polarity mean?

It means no designation in polarity, and the detector works without problem even if connected in reverse.

  • Beam detectors give false alarms around dawn and/or dusk. Why?

This is caused by sunlight when the sun is near the horizon. You may switch the locations of transmitter and receiver, or slightly change the angles of the transmitter / receiver.
Only a very small change is effective for the prevention of false alarms.

  • What is the maximum distance beams can reach?

With NR-ND, NR-QS, and NR-QM series, the beam can reach 10 times as far as the detection range said in the catalogue.

  • What is ALC?

ALC means Automatic Level Control. When beams are installed near wall or building, the diverged beams may reflect and then reach the receiver. In such a case, ALC is activated to adjust the sensitivity of the receiver.

  • What is the difference between Voltmeter output and LED indicator for adjusting Optics?

Voltmeter output shows precise level of the beam receiving power. Therefore it is very useful for precise adjustment of optics or level checking of beam receiving power on maintenance..

  • When and how the heaters should be used?

BH24D heater is effective for frost prevention. Use the heater in cold and moist areas where frost is likely to build up on the covers.

  • What is the mechanism of NR-QM beam stacking?

NR-QM employs "Multiple Time Modulation" to enable beam stacking. The transmitters of stacked beams are connected with synchronous wires, and the receivers recognize 16 kinds of pulse pattern differences.

  • Can we see the infrared beam?

Infrared beam is invisible to the naked eyes. However, the infrared beam may be vaguely seen with a high-sensitivity infrared scope if it is blocked by an object. In any case seeing the infrared beam is extremely difficult, so the intruders are not likely to realize the presence of the detectors.

  • What are AND and OR modes?

In AND mode, two beams must be broken simultaneously to trigger an alarm, so it gives stable operation. Small animals such as dog and birds cross only one beam so alarm is not triggered.
In OR mode, only a single beam breakage triggers an alarm. It is mainly used for detection of crawling intruders. Most commonly OR mode is used for the lowest stack of beam stacking.

  • What happens if thick layer of dust covers beam surface?

The photoelectric beams have 100 times sensitivity allowance, and no complaints have ever been made for dust accumulation on beam covers. However, we recommend wiping off dust regularly with moist cloth.

  • What happens if the wire is cut?

Low electric current is constantly supplied to the detector. If the wire is cut, the electric supply stops and the tamper circuit is activated that results in triggering an alarm.

  • What happens if the infrared beam is blocked by a glass?

Infrared beam passes through a glass so no alarm is generated. For stable operation, please do not place a glass between transmitter and receiver.

  • Is there any battery-operated photoelectric detector?

No, the electricity must be supplied from power. Photoelectric detectors consume more electric currents compared to PIR detectors.

  • What is the maximum distance between detector and control panel?

It depends on the voltage and the size of wire. For instance, if AWG16 (1.2mm in diameter) is used with 12VDC for NR-TD, the maximum wire length is 760m. Please refer to the instruction manual for more details.

  • Does Atsumi have Tower housing for beam detectors?

Yes, we do have BTW series. Please see item BTW on this web.

Passive Infrared Detectors
  • What is different between SynyuWatcher SIR 05 and TryWatcher SIR 10 S

SynyuWatcher SIR05 is compact, has the pet-friendly function as main feature, and has good features for easy and short time installation.
TryWatcher SIR10S has selectable two detection modes, one is the volumetric (high mount installation) and the other is the pet-friendly mode. 3 PIR sensor is adopted so that it performs the high anti-false alarm.
lease select them depending on the application.

  • What is "ATC"?

ATC means Automatic Temperature Compensation. It adjusts the sensitivity of detector automatically according to the ambient temperature to enable stable operation in any condition.

  • What is "Self-diagnostic Function"?

It automatically monitors malfunction of pyro sensors and/or amplifier. In case there is anything wrong with these electric parts, LED flashes.

  • Is it possible to disable one of the three mirrors of IR36EXA?

No, mirrors cannot be disabled or masked. However, the detection range of each mirror can be narrowed using independently adjustable feature.

  • Does cigarette smoke affect PIR function?

Even if a detector is installed in a small room filled with cigarette smoke, it functions without problems.

  • What happens to a PIR if water leaks from ceiling?

The leaked water may enter the circuit of PIR and may lead to the damage of the product. Do not install on the ceiling if water is leaking.

  • How is semiconductor relay different from conventional (mechanical) relay?

Unlike mechanical relay, it operates electrically therefore free from magnetic influences. Relay fault is a common problem for PIR detector, but semiconductor relay has greater reliability over mechanical relay. Besides, semiconductor relay operates silently, so it is suitable for quiet rooms.
